Treating Stubble Heads | Farm Weekly | Western Australia

Rugged and durable, suitable for rugged paddock conditions and high stubble loads after harvest.

Good job: Capella grower Tim Gersbach was impressed with his 18-meter (60-foot) five-section Mandako roller.

The harvest is approaching, and many grain growers are planning logistics operations during and shortly after this busy time on the farm calendar.

As part of this, it is worth considering investing in an efficient stubble crushing and rolling system.

BP Imports, a professional Australian agricultural machinery supplier, has a series of Mandako stubble crushers and ground presses, which have achieved great success in the country's vast grain belt.

Using these machines, growers have found that their soil quality has been rapidly improved against the background of rapid decomposition of stubble and increased underground microbial activity.

The use of straw shredders means that the demand for chemical fertilizers is reduced, more carbon content is retained in the soil, and more water is stored, which can be used for crop planting in the next year.

Burke Perry, head of import for BP, based in the greater southern region of Western Australia, said the Mandako stubble crusher is heavy-duty and very suitable for handling thick stubble-including stubble from rapeseed.

He said: "This is particularly important in the summer of 2021-22, because most states are likely to have a good harvest."

"The Mandako roller compactor will be able to handle the stubble cover task frontally-and at a speed of approximately 15 hectares per hour.

"This makes the process fast, efficient and cost-effective."

Mr. Perry said that the size of the stubble cutter ranges from 6 meters (20 feet) to 18 meters (60 feet).

These machines are equipped with 4-inch bolt-on blades, hydraulic wings and rear-wheel steering.

Their shipping width is 3.5 meters, and the drum shaft and bearings are 3 inches.

Mr. Perry said: "They are durable and suitable for rugged paddock conditions and high post-harvest stubble loads."

Looking forward to next year, he said that farmers can also consider ordering land rollers from Mandako's range.

Yield results: Mandako rollers increase crop yields.

In recent years, this has proven to be particularly popular in Queensland.

Mr. Perry said: “Mandak is quickly becoming a much-needed product in growing chickpeas and other crops.”

Mandako land rollers have unique features, including 42-inch drum diameter, 3/4-inch drum wall thickness, hydraulic floating hooks, hydraulic dual rear wheel steering, automatic folding, standard safety chains, and light-weight kits.

Mr. Perry said that all models in the Mandako series are manufactured with the highest quality, easy to operate, and only two minutes from work to transportation.

"The five-stage roller follows the contours of the ground and uses floating bolts to make the paddock as flat as a bowling alley," he said.

"This allows you to get the maximum yield—especially for chickpea crops—so you don’t leave any product behind, and your grain samples are free of foreign matter.

"It also reduces costly breakdowns, repairs and downtime during harvesting caused by dirt and rocks.

"So, you can make your head work in the paddock."

Capella-based grower Tim Gersbach said that the 18 million (60-foot), five-section Mandako rollers he bought through BP Import Company impressed his family's 3925 hectares of chickpea, wheat and sorghum business.

"We bought a road roller to assist in our chickpea cultivation," he said.

"We rolled the paddock after planting and before the plants germinated to level the paddock and push down any rocks without covering the seed trench.

"It turns out that Mandako is very suitable for this task.

"We can see that the workmanship of the Mandako series is excellent."

Its purpose is to help Australian farmers increase yields and increase the efficiency of their operations. -Burke Perry, BP Import Manager

Mr. Perry said that BP Import only purchases equipment of the highest quality and suitable for Australian conditions.

"The purpose is to help Australian farmers increase yields and make their businesses more efficient," he said.

Mr. Perry said that he has been engaged in breeding and importing and selling equipment for 30 years, which was the key to his establishment of BP Imports.

"Our company is capable of sourcing the best products and bringing them to Australia, providing farmers with this equipment at very competitive prices," he said.

"We are a small business, which allows us to invest in procurement and development of equipment to increase production.

"And we are an independent machinery distributor, which allows us to make our own decisions and sell products that we are confident in helping customers increase their profits."

BP Imports mainly sells large-area equipment.
